FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is iCal?

iCal is a calendar format used by many booking portals for reservations and blocked dates.

Which portals are supported?

Any portal that provides iCal import or export, including Booking.com, Vrbo, HomeToGo and Deskline.

Is kalenderabgleich.de affiliated with booking platforms?

No. kalenderabgleich.de is independent and only uses the iCal calendar functions provided by those platforms.

Why not connect every portal directly?

Direct chains can send blocks back to their source. kalenderabgleich.de records each event’s source and does not export it back there.

Do I need a channel manager for this?

Not necessarily. If you only want to synchronise bookings and blocked dates via iCal between platforms, kalenderabgleich.de is often enough. A full channel manager is more useful when prices, messages, availability rules or bookings also need to be managed centrally.

Who is kalenderabgleich.de for?

The service is mainly for small holiday rental hosts who list on several platforms and want clean calendar synchronisation without introducing large management software.

Can I synchronise Booking.com with Vrbo or other platforms?

Yes, provided the platforms offer iCal import and export. The platforms should not be connected directly to each other, but should each run through kalenderabgleich.de.

Why is pricing per property and not per calendar?

The number of connected calendars varies widely between hosts. Pricing per property is easier to plan and does not penalise users for connecting several platforms cleanly.

What happens when an event is deleted in the source portal?

Events no longer present in a successfully retrieved source feed are removed during synchronisation.

How often are calendars synchronised?

kalenderabgleich.de currently retrieves connected source calendars every 10 minutes. Other platforms retrieve exports according to their own schedules.

Can I create manual booking blocks?

Yes. Manual blocks are always exported and can be used for personal use, maintenance or direct bookings.

How do I connect a new booking portal?

Add the portal’s iCal export as a source, then add the kalenderabgleich.de export URL to the portal. Finally remove old direct portal-to-portal links.

Why should each portal only contain kalenderabgleich.de?

This keeps one central hub and prevents duplicate or outdated blocks caused by portal chains.

Are events sent back to their original portal?

No. An event is excluded from the export calendar intended for its original source.

Why does a new booking not appear everywhere immediately?

After kalenderabgleich.de retrieves the source, each destination portal must retrieve the export calendar. Their retrieval intervals are outside our control.

How can I see whether a source synchronised successfully?

The Synchronisation page shows status, imported events, the last sync time and any errors.

What does “Last retrieved by portal” mean?

It shows when the relevant portal last loaded its kalenderabgleich.de export calendar. “Never” means no retrieval has yet been detected.

What if a portal has never retrieved the calendar?

Check that the correct export URL is saved and enabled in the portal, then use the portal’s refresh function if available.

Can I manage multiple properties?

Yes. Each property has its own sources, events and export calendars.

Are guest names or internal notes sent to portals?

No. Exports contain neither internal notes nor portal names and use a neutral event description.

What happens when I delete a source?

The source and its imported events are removed. You should also remove the corresponding export link from the portal.

Can a departure date also be used as an arrival date?

Yes. Event end dates are exclusive, so a property is available again on the departure date.

Am I committed for a year?

No. The subscription can be cancelled monthly and has no annual commitment.

Can I try the service for free?

Yes. The trial lasts 30 days. The service then costs EUR 8.99 including VAT per property per month.
