iCal problem

iCal calendar is not updating: common causes and solution

If bookings or blocks are missing in a platform, the cause is often not a single event but delayed fetches and confusing direct links between several calendars.

Common cause

iCal is not real-time synchronisation.

Many booking platforms fetch external iCal links at their own intervals. Even if kalenderabgleich.de fetches your sources regularly, each platform decides when it loads the export calendar again.

It becomes especially problematic when platforms are also connected directly to each other. Old blocks can then return from one platform through another.

  • Fetch intervals differ by platform
  • Direct platform chains make troubleshooting harder
  • Old calendar links can redistribute outdated blocks

Approach

How calendar synchronisation becomes traceable.

1

Fetch sources centrally

All platform calendars are added as sources in kalenderabgleich.de and fetched there regularly.

2

Check platform fetches

In the synchronisation section you can see when platforms last fetched the export calendar and what approximate fetch interval is visible.

3

Remove old direct links

Only kalenderabgleich.de remains connected in the booking platforms. Old platform-to-platform links are removed.

Control calendar fetches more clearly.

Start with one property and check whether your platforms work cleanly through one central iCal hub.
